If you suffer from hair loss and are eager to regain your REAL hair which grows for a lifetime, then hairgrafting is made for you.
The technique of hair grafting was created 50 years ago and has greatly evolved ever since. Doctors used to graft hair in small tufts made up of 12 to 18 bulbs. Operations were very painful and the aesthetic result was extremely unnatural-looking : indeed it had the aspect of doll’s hair and the scars could remain quite visible.
20 years ago, the size of grafts was reduced and "mini-grafting" was introduced. The grafts then included 5 to 11 hairs.
The aesthetic result considerably improved and the technique of mini-grafting is still used nowadays in quite a number of hair clinics.
A few years later, a major breakthrough was made with a new technique called "micro-grafting" (1 to 4 hairs). Doctor Pierre Bédard from Montreal, Canada, was a precursor of that technique and presented it for the first time in 1985 in Paris at the 2nd World Congress of Research against Baldness.
In addition to the fineness of his grafts, Dr Pierre Bédard added two other improvements : a quasi-total elimination of pain (thanks to a very specific protocol of anesthesia) and a hair by hair implantation technique on the front edge of the scalp.
The technique was named : Soft Micrografting.
The introduction and use of binocular stereoscopic microscopes and other high precision equipment have helped to improve the technique which is today known as soft microfollicular hairgrafting.
With this technique, it is today possible to have operations of 1500 to 3000 micrografts (i.e. 3500 to 7000 hair) in one single session with a team of 10 to 15 persons.
